Solar battery storage
On-grid, off-grid and hybrid. G98/G99 + G100 ready. UK-wide. Smart, modular storage for steady savings and smoother power.
NICEIC installers. We design around your site, tariff and goals — AC-coupled (easier retrofit), DC-coupled (best efficiency with new PV), or hybrid.
Three ways a battery saves money
1) Self-consumption
Store daytime solar and use it at night — buy fewer kWh from the grid.
2) Off-peak arbitrage
Charge on cheap time-of-use rates and avoid expensive peaks.
3) Smarter exports
Time exports to better tariffs, or hold energy for your own peaks.
What is battery storage — and why does it save you money?
Battery storage is a safe lithium-ion unit (typically LFP chemistry) coupled to your electrics. It charges from solar and/or the grid when electricity is cheap or abundant, then powers your home or business when prices are high.
Homes: use more of your own solar, charge at night on cheap tariffs, keep the lights on with optional backup.
Businesses: shave peaks to cut demand/kVA exposure, stabilise process loads, support EV charging, and monetise flexibility where available.
Home and business sizes
Home battery — practical sizes
Typical sizes 5–20 kWh (stackable to 30+ kWh). We match capacity to your night use and solar profile. Tariff pairing with time-of-use, export optimisation and solar self-use. Optional essential-circuits backup. LFP chemistry, correct clearances, enclosure/IP as the location demands. Clean, compact installs — utility room, garage or outbuilding.
Business & C&I storage
Peak shaving to cut short kVA spikes. Load shifting: charge off-peak, run lines, chillers and compressors through peaks. PV firming. EV charging support without costly peak imports. Modular racks scale from tens of kWh to MWh-class.
On-grid · off-grid · hybrid
On-grid
Maximise savings on your current supply. Pair with time-of-use tariffs and SEG export. G98/G99 notifications handled, and G100 export-limiters where required.
Off-grid
Full autonomy. PV + storage + generator (optional). Hybrid inverter orchestration, robust protection and changeover.
Hybrid
Best of both. Operate normally on-grid, but keep priority circuits alive in outages. Ideal for homes and critical SME loads.
Tariff optimisation
We set your system to charge during cheap windows and discharge through peak periods, and we size for your actual profile. Popular UK options include smart off-peak EV/home tariffs and solar+battery tariffs with time-bands for import/export.
Off-peak import, Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) or time-banded export, and optional dynamic half-hourly tariffs. Availability varies by supplier and region. We configure, you choose the contract.

What we add
Tariff-tuned commissioning on day one. G100 export-limit ready if your DNO caps export. Seasonal summer/winter profiles. Quiet mode and curfews for residential settings. Optional remote performance checks.
IET EESS Code of Practice, BS 7671, G98/G99 and G100, and PAS 63100:2024 location and clearances in dwellings. We default to LFP chemistry for homes.
Battery storage — frequently asked questions
What is a home/commercial battery in simple terms?
A rechargeable pack (usually lithium-ion LFP) connected to your electrics. It stores energy when it’s cheap or sunny and supplies it when it’s expensive or dark.
How does it save money?
Three levers: use more of your own solar, charge off-peak and use at peak, and time exports to better tariffs.
What’s the difference between AC-coupled and DC-coupled?
AC-coupled adds a battery inverter to an existing system (great for retrofits). DC-coupled shares the PV/hybrid inverter (often higher efficiency on new installs). We’ll pick the best fit for your site and budget.
How big should my battery be?
Start with night-time use plus export you’d like to capture, then consider the cheap window and inverter power. For many homes it’s 5–15 kWh; businesses scale from 30 kWh to MWh.
How quickly is it installed?
Domestic: typically a day plus commissioning. Commercial: 1–5 days depending on size, switchgear and any DNO work. A controlled shutdown is scheduled for connection.
Will it power my home in a power cut?
Yes if you choose a system with backup/essential circuits. We isolate safely from the grid and keep priority circuits running.
What about safety and fire risk?
We default to LFP chemistry, follow the IET EESS Code of Practice, apply PAS 63100 location and clearances in dwellings, and coordinate protection and ventilation.
Do I need DNO approval?
Yes for most systems. Small type-tested units may be notify (G98); larger, three-phase or export-capable systems usually need apply (G99). If your area is constrained we add a G100 export-limiter.
What maintenance does it need?
Very little. We recommend periodic visual/thermal checks, firmware updates, and ventilation filter cleaning where fitted. Remote monitoring flags issues early. Warranties are typically 5–10 years.
