Generate more of your own energy

We design, install, maintain, clean and repair solar PV systems across Birmingham and the West Midlands. Jobs go through MCS via Greenwatt Energy (a partner business). We’re also NICEIC. Typical packages: 5 kW solar + 5 kWh battery about £7,000; 5 kW + 10 kWh about £8,000.

Install

MCS-certified install via Greenwatt Energy, through to commissioning.

Solar packages with Greenwatt Energy

Scaffolding, DNO application and bird-proofing are included. A typical house install takes about two days — roof and electrics. At handover you get an MCS certificate (issued via Greenwatt Energy), the design, the electrical inspection, generation meter location/path and the initial reading details and the monitoring app.

Myth we keep correcting: “It has to be sunny”

Solar panels do not need blazing heat: bright light matters, while higher module temperatures increase electrical resistance and can reduce output. A crisp, bright morning can generate very well.

Quick answers

What solar work do you do?

We design, install, maintain, clean and repair solar PV systems.

Do you install batteries as well?

Yes — new solar with battery, and we work with lots of battery brands.

Are you MCS certified?

Westinghouse doesn’t hold MCS itself. MCS-certified installs go through our partner Greenwatt Energy, with Siall Ahmed as Qualified Supervisor and Technical Supervisor. We’re also NICEIC registered for electrical work.

What does the survey-to-install process look like?

We visit the property, check the roof, how many panels will fit, roof direction, height, safety and access. Then we design the system and send you a PDF covering expected generation and return on investment. Once you’re happy, we book the install.

How long does a typical house install take?

About two days — roof and electrics.

How do you price solar?

We usually price on system size (kW) plus battery choice. Examples: 5 kW solar + 5 kWh battery about £7,000. 5 kW solar + 10 kWh battery about £8,000.

What drives the price up?

Hard-to-access roofs, and how far the battery/inverter are from the consumer unit. On a terrace where the fuse box is at the front and the kit is at the back — especially with laminate floors upstairs.

What’s included?

Scaffolding, DNO application, and bird-proofing are included in our pricing.

What do I get at handover?

Battery documents, an MCS certificate (issued via Greenwatt Energy), the design, the electrical inspection, the generation meter location/path and how to record the opening generation reading, and the phone app so you can see what the system’s doing.

What warranties do I get?

Our workmanship: 10 years. Panels: typically 25 years (manufacturer). Inverters: often 5 or 10 years depending on brand. Batteries: often 5 or 10 years depending on manufacturer.

Do you offer maintenance and cleaning contracts?

Yes.

Where do you cover?

The West Midlands.

Export / import tariffs — do you explain those?

Yes. Sensible export and import tariffs make a big difference to payback. A typical domestic-style payback can be around seven years, depending on the system and how you use the power. Commercial / council grants can also apply on bigger jobs.

Myth we keep correcting: does it have to be sunny?

No. Solar panels do not need blazing heat: bright light matters, while higher module temperatures increase electrical resistance and can reduce output. Very high temperatures can cause protective output reduction or shutdown. A crisp, bright morning can generate very well.
